This one is called depression kid and his bike…

I never had money but I did have a bike and there was little to do in the summer, but ride my bike to the beach and back it was a bloody ass fall from LA to Venice, but there was nothing else. One thing it really built up my legs, I was 14 years old, and I had the most powerful legs in the southland, maybe. The thing that made their right more exiting was to attempt the short in the time toke to make the trip. Each time I broke my own record and I go for a new one. I pedaled faster and faster, and there was alright, except one Sunday while I was really pumping on this guy in a red sports car, screaming at me:

– Hey kid, watch where the fuck you´re going.

I looked over and there was this old guy in a late model car, smoking a cigar, and he had a blonde young with him. Her long hair was blowing in the wind.

– Up your ass, I yield back.

He slowed his car down as I pumped along side, and he locked over e and said:

– Would you mind repeating that?

I repeated that. The girl with the hair blowing in the wind locked at him and I laughed.

– I´ve got a good minded to park and beat the crap out of you. Park it, park it, I yield.

He go ahead and parked at a curb. I parked my bike and walk to board him. I had no fear. I felt great. I walked out at the car. He looked at me from the car. He didn’t get out. The young girl was saying something to him. Suddenly, started the car am pull it away. He took the right at the corner. I walk back to my bike. I got on and start pedaling. Then he was back. It circled the block. I saw his face as he looked at me, I´d sell and seen such hatred. Than, he´s gone down the boulevard, out of sight, whit his young girl. I pedaled along. I was no longer in a hurry. To hell with the record. I’d called the guy’s card and the girl with the long hair was thinking of me. I had become a man.
